Christmas Assistance

Our Angel Tree applications are now closed for the season. If you need help, please reach out to Indiana 2-1-1 / United Way – Call 2-1-1 or 1-866-211-9966 any time to get connected to food, housing, bill help, and more.

Once you have registered for our Angel Tree program, you will need to follow these instructions to adhere to our pick-up process.

  • We will not be able to take any phone calls regarding your Christmas registration.
  • Our application list will be shared with other agencies. Applying to other agencies can result in disqualification.
  • You can arrive AFTER your scheduled appointment if you cannot come on time.
  • If you cannot make it to Distribution Day, you can send a proxy note with someone. They need to bring a note authorizing you to pick up on their behalf, signed by both parties (their ID + your ID with a note saying they can pick up your items).
  • Please come alone to pick up items.
  • Bring your ID.

Adopt a Family

The deadline for ‘Adopt a Family’ registration is November 28th.

The drop off date for items will be: Friday, December 5th, 2025 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. Your organization or business will be responsible for getting all of your items to The Salvation Army Kroc Center and maintaining communication with our team to ensure that each family is covered.

Christmas Assistance Application Helpers

Volunteers will assist at the door verifying information and inputting applicant data into the computer.  An application is required for residents to receive a Christmas food basket and Christmas gifts.

  • Monday, Oct. 20th, Tuesday, Oct. 21st, Thursday, Oct. 23rd & Friday, Oct. 24th
    • 8:30am – 12pm and 1:00pm – 3:30pm
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22nd
    • 8:30am – 12pm and 4pm – 7pm
Thanksgiving Food Box Packing
  • Thursday, Nov. 20th
    • 9am – 12pm
Thanksgiving Basket Distribution
  • Tuesday, Nov. 25th
    • 7:30am – 12pm OR 7:30am – 9:30am and 9:30am – 12pm
Toy Sorting

Various shifts available in 2-hour increments

Adopt-A-Family Toy Drop Off

Assist in organizing and sorting donated gifts from generous community sponsors for families in need during the holiday season.  

This is a hand-on volunteer opportunity that involves light to moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 25lbs. Please dress appropriately, as it will include going outside to bring gifts indoors.

Looking for additional support outside of Christmas

The Family Resource Center located at the Salvation Army Kroc Center serves our county all year round!

Financial Assistance Program
  • Monday, October 13th, 2025 is the last day for The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s financial assistance program this year. The Family Resource Center will not be providing financial assistance during this time as our staff focuses on Christmas programs.
  • Those in need can call 211 for other agencies that help currently.
  • The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s financial assistance program will resume taking calls on Monday, January 12th, 2026.
Food Pantry
  • The Food Pantry is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • CLOSED 11/25 & 11/28 for Food Distribution
  • CLOSED 12/15 – 12/16 for Food Distribution & Distribution Day
  • CLOSED 12/26
  • The Walter A. Meyer Food Pantry at the Salvation Army Kroc Center will be closed during Thanksgiving Week, November 25th-28th, 2025.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s Family Resource Center will be CLOSED December 10th, 2025 – January 3rd, 2026.

The Walter A. Meyer Food Pantry at the Salvation Army Kroc Center will resume operation on Monday, January 5th, 2026.
