Christmas Assistance

The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s Christmas Assistance is now closed. We are no longer taking applications. Please reach out to 211 for other Christmas programs in our area.

Once you have registered for our Angel Tree program, you will need to follow these instructions to adhere to our pick-up process.

  • We will not be able to take any phone calls regarding your Christmas registration.
  • Our application list will be shared with other agencies. Applying to other agencies can result in disqualification.
  • You can arrive AFTER your scheduled appointment if you cannot come on time.
  • If you cannot make it to Distribution Day, you can send a proxy note with someone. They need to bring a note authorizing you to pick up on their behalf, signed by both parties (their ID + your ID with a note saying they can pick up your items).
  • Please come alone to pick up items.
  • Bring your ID.

Adopt a Family

Our Adopt a Family registration is now closed for the 2024 season. If you are still looking to make a difference in the lives of local children this holiday season, we encourage you to support our Angel Tree program. The deadline for Angel Tree donations is December 11th. Please visit our links to shop online, or drop off at the following locations.

The drop off date for items will be: Friday, December 6th, 2024 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. Your organization or business will be responsible for getting all of your items to The Salvation Army Kroc Center and maintaining communication with our team to ensure that each family is covered.

Would you like to volunteer your time during this season?

  • We have volunteer shifts available on December 2nd-5th, 2024 from 1pm-4pm at Food Bank of Northern Indiana, where we will be packing hundreds of food boxes. Sign up using this link: Food Box Packing at Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
  • Throughout the season, we also need help sorting the many toys that we receive! Volunteer to help sort toys using the following link: Toy Sorting Volunteers. 
  • December 17th, 2024 from 7am-7pm—Toy Distribution Day! This is the day that families receive the toys that have been donated. Sign up to help distribute those toys using this link: Distribution Day.

Looking for additional support outside of Christmas

The Family Resource Center located at the Salvation Army Kroc Center serves our county all year round!

Financial Assistance Program

  • Monday, October 14th, 2024 is the last day for The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s financial assistance program this year. The Family Resource Center will not be providing financial assistance during this time as our staff focuses on Christmas programs.
  • Those in need can call 211 for other agencies that help currently.
  • The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s financial assistance program will resume taking calls on Monday, January 6th, 2025.

Food Pantry

  • The Walter A. Meyer Food Pantry at the Salvation Army Kroc Center will be closed during Thanksgiving Week, November 25th-29th, 2024.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s Family Resource Center will be CLOSED December 16th, 2024 – January 2nd, 2025.

The Walter A. Meyer Food Pantry at the Salvation Army Kroc Center will resume operation on Friday, January 3rd, 2025.
