Respectful Service in
All Circumstances

The Salvation Army Kroc Center is helping to keep
the lights on for families across St. Joseph County.

Utility Assistance & Financial Aid

Our Utility Assistance & Financial Aid Program is staffed with compassionate individuals who understand that it can be difficult to ask for help in the midst of a financial crisis. If you are a St. Joseph County resident and are facing any of the following difficulties, we may be able to help:
  • Disconnection notice from a utility provider
  • Utilities are currently disconnected
  • Household disaster such as a house fire or flood
  • Personal crisis such as a death in the family or fleeing from domestic abuse
Our process for financial assistance is as follows:
  • Call on Monday mornings starting at 8am at 574-367-2358 ext 2206. You will need to leave a detailed message about your bill and your name and phone number.
  • The Family Resource Center team calls people back on Tuesday afternoons to schedule. If you don’t get a call back, we recommend you calling the next Monday. We log every call that we get.

Help Serve Michiana

Every week, our Family Resource Center receives 95 calls from families requesting financial assistance as they recover from job loss, tragedy, and utility shutoffs. You can help us meet this passive need by making a tax-deductible donation to the Salvation Army. Just $150 can keep a family warm and safe in the comfort of their own home.
