Angel Tree Registration
This is our Christmas Assistance Program that helps families make Christmas incredible! This program requires a registration process with a commitment to pick up items at the Kroc Center on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. You will be assigned a pickup time.
This year the South Bend Kroc Center will be able to support each child with 2 toys and one food box per family.
Online Registration opens on October 21, 2024 by visiting www.saangeltree.org
Or you can register in person at the Salvation Army Kroc Center
Saturday 10/26 | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Monday 10/28 | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Tuesday 10/29 | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Wednesday 10/30 | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Thursday 10/31 | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Information needed to register:
- ID for all adults in the household: South Bend ID, Driver’s License, Passport.
- Birth Certificate for all children in the household.
- Proof of address: current lease or current utility bill with name and address on it.
Some important things to remember when registering for our Christmas Angel Tree Program:
- Applications will not be accepted if all requirements are not met.
- We ask that only one adult per household come for in person applications. Please leave children at home.
- We ask that families only register for one Christmas Assistance program to avoid risking disqualification.
- Clients must be a resident of St Joseph County in order to receive Christmas Assistance.
Once you have registered for our Angel Tree Program, you will need to follow these instructions to adhere to our pick up process.
- We will not be able to take any phone calls regarding your Christmas Registration
- Our application list will be shared with other agencies. Applying to other agencies can result in disqualification.
- You can arrive AFTER your scheduled appointment if you cannot come on time
- If you cannot make it to Distribution Day, you can send a proxy note with someone. They need to bring a note authorizing you to pick up on their behalf. Signed by both parties (their ID, your ID with a note saying they can pick up your items).
- Please come alone to pick up your items.
- Bring your ID
- We will be able to support children under 12 and under.

Would you like to be a part of Adopt a Family?
Every year, we invite families, businesses and/or organizations to partner with us to Adopt a Family. You fill out the simple form and we will match you with a family in the community. Our Adopt a Family registration opens on November 1, 2024.
The drop off date for items will be: Friday, December 6 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. Your organization or business will be responsible for getting all of your items to the Kroc Center and maintain communication with our team in order that each family is covered.

We have several ways that you can get your toy purchase to us!
- You can shop from our Amazon Wish List
- You can also show from our Walmart Registry
- You can purchase a toy in store and drop it in a barrel at Walmart, Sam’s Club or at the Welcome Desk at the Kroc Center
Would you like to volunteer your time during this season?
- Our Application Week for Christmas is October 26-31, 2024 in the Kroc Chapel. To sign up to volunteer, visit Christmas Application Week.
- We will be packing our 1000 food boxes at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana in partnership with them. We have shifts available on December 2-5, 2024 from 1-4pm at the Food Bank. That link is Food Box Packing at Food Bank.
- We also need help sorting the many toys that we will receive! That link is Toy Sorting Volunteers. There is an assortment of shifts on the link attached.

Looking for additional support outside of Christmas?
The Family Resource Center located at the Salvation Army Kroc Center serves our county all year round!

Financial Assistance Program
- Monday, October 14, 2024, is the last day for financial assistance this year. FRC will not be providing financial assistance during this time as our staff is focusing on Christmas programs.
- Call 211 for other agencies that help currently.
- Financial Assistance will resume taking calls on Monday, January 6, 2025
Food Pantry
- The pantry will be closed: Thanksgiving Week, November 25-29
